To establish oneself so early in a career requires talent and the perfect showcase. In the sports broadcasting industry, the perfect showcase is ESPN. Davis joined ESPN in March 1994 as an ESPN2 SportSmash anchor, providing five-minute news and score reports throughout the network's nightly programming. Today, he serves as host of ESPN2's weekend RPM 2Night and Sunday morning RPM 2Day programs--a spot he has held since August 20, 1997. Prior to that, Davis was host of ESPN2's NBA 2Night, the network's daily NBA highlights/news program (1996-97). He also works as an ESPN SportsCenter anchor.
Davis graduated cum laude from the University of Alabama in 1988 with a bachelor of arts degree in broadcast news and public affairs. He is a native of Muscleshoals, Alabama. So it's not surprising that before his stint at WJRT in Michigan, Davis spent ten years developing the foundation of his career in the sports of Alabama and Georgia. That included being a sports director at WRBL-TV in Columbus, Georgia, general assignment reporting for WCFT-TV in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and freelancing as a television play-by-play announcer, studio host, and radio accouncer in select media outlets in Alabama.
